Who is Brek?
Story told in First-Person Point of View by Brek
Brek was once a typical goblin, content with his place in the shadows. Small, rough-skinned, and accustomed to a life of servitude, he sought nothing more than to serve someone powerful. That opportunity came when a renowned wizard took him in as an apprentice. For Brek, this was an honor beyond anything he had ever imagined—goblins rarely, if ever, learned magic.
But things quickly changed. The wizard, who lived in a castle carved into a mountainside and was revered by dragons, had darker plans for Brek. What began as lessons in defensive magic soon turned into something far more sinister. Brek was not just an apprentice; he was a subject for the wizard’s twisted experiments. The wizard, obsessed with the dragons' longevity, started to manipulate Brek’s very being, injecting him with dragon DNA.
The transformation was slow but profound. Brek’s body grew taller, his skin hardened into dark grey scales, and his hands developed long, razor-sharp claws. His face became a strange mix of goblin and human, with a forked tongue that made him hiss when he spoke. And then there were the wings—bat-like, stretching from his shoulders to his feet, a constant reminder of the dragon essence now embedded within him.
Brek’s gentle nature began to warp under the weight of these changes. No longer just a goblin, but not fully a dragon either, he became something entirely new. His transformation left him feeling more isolated, his demeanor sharper and, at times, even cruel. The goblin who once only wanted to serve had been reshaped into a creature caught between worlds—part goblin, part dragon, and wholly unique.
